LABELS

Labels go on packaged products right? They specify what the type of product it is.
People are labelled too. We are all labelled in some way, even though we are individuals with all sorts of different characteristics and personalities. Being labeled as something/ someone we are most like can be helpful in ways, such as finding others who have similar interests or knowledge in the area of which you are labelled. The thing is, I don’t really enjoy being labelled. People seem to get really uncomfortable or weird around some of my labels. I do understand that we have been conditioned to feel (mostly) unconsciously, touchy around certain subjects. I am usually “singled out” as someone who most people perceive as extreme or stupid just for my way of living. I know that what I am choosing to do with my life isn’t a negative or silly decision. I know that eating plants, reducing my plastic use, writing and being creative with different forms of art, and going travelling & running my own business instead of choosing not to go to uni is an amazing life path.
I am not going to choose to live in a way that conforms to the traditional lifestyle.
Almost a year ago I completely stopped eating meat, eggs, and dairy. I did give myself the vegan label for a while. I got a lot of shit from others for this way of living. Some thought it was just temporary or a phase that I was going through. Some thought I was silly or extreme or brainwashed. The statements and conversations with the people who actually supported, and empowered me were the only important and time worthy ones. I realised that people stereotyped and labelled me a lot. What other people think of me is none of my business, but I want these people to start thinking about these labels in a positive light. 
What if instead of being labelled as vegan everyday, the people who still consumed animals as products were called killers, and eventually they would believe that they were murderers. No one would laugh at the “vegans” anymore. Soon enough being vegan or plant based would be the normal way of living. It isn’t extreme to consume plants, and neither is it a silly phase I’m going through. I don’t want to label myself. People can call me what they want to, but it would be great if we discontinued calling each other names just because of our lifestyle choices. I hope I made some kind of sense through all of my rambling, and I hope that you can understand my point of view... also have an epic day. You are in control of your own life. Don’t allow yourself to have a bad day. It’s Monday. Let’s start our week off fresh and with #positivevibes
